SUMMARY:Adult Cooking Class – Ice Cream & Sorbet 101
DESCRIPTION:This class will showcase how to make a basic crème anglaise that you can flavor to your desire and spin in your ice cream maker anytime you or your family needs to cool down.\nCan’t eat ice cream? How about a healthier Sorbet made from fresh fruit and molded into popsicles so you can grab one from the freezer anytime you want?\nThis class will showcase the basic science of these cold and tasty treats, why exactly they need the ratio of ingredients that they need, *ahem* sugar. And how to properly use and care for an ice cream maker.\nAbout Our Instructor:\nKellyn Powers is a graduate of Indiana University, mother of two young girls, and holds an intense fascination with food anthropology; specifically, with how food effects our quality of life, mental and physical health, and how food can be used to improve our relationships within our families and communities.\nKellyn has 15 years of experience in the food and hospitality industry, in the midst of which she graduated from The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder, Colorado in 2013. The program focused on “bare-bone” techniques in the kitchen, primarily using a knife, an oven, a whisk and a bowl to concoct all sorts of delicious foods. Outside of the kitchen, Kellyn studied modern agriculture to become more conscious of our food and where it comes from.\nKellyn’s style of cooking is an eclectic mix of healthy comfort food. Just because it is good for you doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice taste, texture and quality of a meal!\nTickets: http://bit.ly/KitchenBasicsJune20.\n
