How do we make the most of the outdoor pools closing for the season? We throw a huge community pool paw-ty for the pooches!

Bring your furry friend for a swim in the large pool or play with your pooch in the toddler pool and splash pad.
• Dogs must wear a dog tag and have updated vaccinations.
• Swimming is for non-aggressive dogs only. Pool chemicals will be lowered to keep it safe for dogs (and not humans).
• Please be prepared to clean up after your four-legged friends.
• All proceeds benefit the Fishers YMCA Annual Campaign.
• $10/dog for one day or $15/dog for both days. Human companions are free.
• Purchase tickets in advance or at the event.

Wednesday, September 4, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 7, 10 a.m. – Noon

Open your hearts & homes to friends from the Humane Society for Hamilton County. They’ll be previewing the event on Wednesday and providing recommendations on the best spots in the pool to enjoy! Won’t you consider learning more about these pooches and welcoming one of them into your loving home?

The Y. We’re for DOG Development, Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.

Kitchen Basics – Sauces @ Irsay Family YMCA at CityWay
Sep 19 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Kitchen Basics is an adult cooking class series led by our experienced instructor, Kellyn Powers.

This month’s class will cover everything you need to know about homemade pasta sauces. We will make butternut squash mac and cheese from start to finish. Students will receive written notes and will have the opportunity to try all of the sauces as we go!

About Our Instructor:

Kellyn Powers is a graduate of Indiana University, mother of two young girls, and holds an intense fascination with food anthropology; specifically, with how food effects our quality of life, mental and physical health, and how food can be used to improve our relationships within our families and communities.

Kellyn has 15 years of experience in the food and hospitality industry, in the midst of which she graduated from The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder, Colorado in 2013. The program focused on “bare-bone” techniques in the kitchen, primarily using a knife, an oven, a whisk and a bowl to concoct all sorts of delicious foods. Outside of the kitchen, Kellyn studied modern agriculture to become more conscious of our food and where it comes from.

Kellyn’s style of cooking is an eclectic mix of healthy comfort food. Just because it is good for you doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice taste, texture and quality of a meal!

The downtown YMCAs have helped me find the path to wellness. I've done two half marathons and learned so much about bicycle safety because of their encouragement. The most supportive and caring staff (now friends) around. I love this place!!!
