All-City Track and Field Meet @ North Central High School

track and fieldThe YMCA offers spring and fall track teams for ages 4 to 16 as a great way to learn how to achieve personal goals and be on a team. Kids also learn how to see through a commitment with training and fun.

Compete against 8 YMCA track teams!

Teams are coached at eight area YMCAs and begin practicing one or two days a week in late April. The spring track season culminates with the All-City Track & Field Meet where nearly 400 kids compete in age groups in field events, running and relays.

Inspire Indy 5k_2019The YMCA also has adult running and walking clubs and triathlon groups and events, coach to 5K, mini and full marathon training programs, like the Inspire Indy 5K Series, perfect for the whole family, and more. Check ’em out!

Free Safety Around Water Classes @ 7 area YMCAs

Swimming with lifejacketWe’re excited to be part of the first-ever Indy Water Safety Week presented by the new Indy Aquatic Alliance! Enjoy free water safety programs and swim events at 30 locations across Greater Indianapolis throughout the week. All activities are free and open to the public. And here’s what you can do at the YMCA!

Free Water Safety Classes

To help keep kids safe, we have over 300 spots open for free “Safety Around Water” classes for ages 5-12 from June 17-20 at seven area YMCAs. In four, half-hour classes, the Y’s certified swim instructors will teach children basic safety skills and concepts, such as jump, push, turn, grab and swim, float and swim.

“America’s Swim Instructor”

Safety Around Water teaches basic water awareness skills, but is not a substitute for learning how to swim. Swim lessons are always available at eight area YMCAs for a fee and at most Y Summer Day Camps. Known as “America’s Swim Instructor,” the Y also offers swim teamsclinicswater fitness classescertifications and training and many more aquatics programs year-round. Scholarships are available for all of these programs.

Let the War begin!  Join us for Water Wars Kids Night Out.  Children of all ages will partake in our Water Wars throughout the night.  There will also be crafts, a movie, games and dinner provided by Chik Fil A.  Children ages 5 and up will be allowed to swim in the outdoor pool for the night.
