Outdoor Pools Open for the Season @ 5 area YMCAs | Fishers | Indiana | United States

Members and guests are invited to kick off the summer pool season at the Baxter YMCA, Benjamin Harrison YMCA, Fishers YMCA, Ransburg YMCA (members only on Saturday) and at Flat Rock River YMCA Camp on May 25. The Jordan YMCA outdoor pool is expected to open soon as well after enhancements are complete.

And we’ve got a full lineup of summer fun at the pool in store!

Fishers YMCA has two indoor pools, including one with zero-depth entry, and three outdoor pools, including a splash pad and kid’s pool. The outdoor pools are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Check out the Fishers YMCA Pool Schedule.

We’re looking for lifeguards, instructors, and pool gate attendants. Learn more about opportunities.

Free Safety Around Water Classes @ 6 area YMCAs

Swimming with lifejacketWe’re excited to be part of the first-ever Indy Water Safety Week presented by the new Indy Aquatic Alliance! Enjoy free water safety programs and swim events at 30 locations across Greater Indianapolis throughout the week. All activities are free and open to the public. And here’s what you can do at the YMCA!

Free Water Safety Classes

To help keep kids safe, we have over 300 spots open for free “Safety Around Water” classes for ages 5-12 from June 17-20 at six area YMCAs. In four, half-hour classes, the Y’s certified swim instructors will teach children basic safety skills and concepts, such as jump, push, turn, grab and swim, float and swim.

“America’s Swim Instructor”

Safety Around Water teaches basic water awareness skills, but is not a substitute for learning how to swim. Swim lessons are always available at eight area YMCAs for a fee and at most Y Summer Day Camps. Known as “America’s Swim Instructor,” the Y also offers swim teamsclinicswater fitness classescertifications and training and many more aquatics programs year-round. Scholarships are available for all of these programs.

The Benjamin Harrison YMCA’s FREEDOM 5K  is partnering with Geist Half Marathon and the City of Lawrence to bring the race to a whole new level! Details are still in the works so please keep checking in for updates!

Race Course
We will be highlighting the Lawrence area with our route this year. The set course is yet to come! 

Childcare
Free childcare is available for all race participants. Play & Learn at the Benjamin Harrison YMCA, 5736 Lee Road, Indianapolis, IN 46216 will be open at 7:30 am. Children must be picked up no later than 9:30am.
