We are offering a day of fun at the Irsay Family YMCA! Kids will learn new recipes in the Teaching Kitchen, enjoying a lunch of what they made, time for physical activity in the gym, swim time and a craft. Please send participants with a backpack, labeled water bottle, afternoon snack, swimsuit and athletic attire. Close-toed shoes are required.
Please notify instructor of dietary restrictions and/or food allergies one week prior to program start. This program is open to kids ages 7 – 15.

Discussion of the importance of exercising both the mind and the body with a focus on strategies for incorporating meditation, aerobics, strengthening, flexibility, and balance into daily routines.

Overview of how sleep patterns change as we age, the importance of monitoring the sleep cycle, and simple strategies to improve sleep.

Review of nutrition as it relates to aging with a focus on strategies for incorporating healthy eating and hydration into daily routines.

This month’s recipe: PESTO CRUSHED SALMON WITH ROASTED ROOT VEGGIES AND RICE
In this demonstration class, our talented chef, Jazz Leaf, will show step-by-step recipe preparation of nutrient-dense recipes. Students are provided recipes to take notes as they watch and learn the important culinary techniques, ingredient choices, equipment selection and meal-timing associated with the recipe.
These classes incorporate both hands-on and lecture-style instruction. Students will have the opportunity to try each recipe at the end of class!
