Black ties are optional, sneakers required for this annual gala event to benefit the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. Join us for an evening of sweet and savory food stations, cocktails, an auction and live music and dancing with Toy Factory. Prizes are awarded for the most creative, decked-out tennis shoes. Janet Evans is the first American woman to win four individual Olympic gold medals in swimming. She began swimming at a year old at the North Orange County YMCA. By the age of 17 she’d set three world records. Evans won a total of 4 gold medals at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. Evans became the first woman to win back-to-back Olympic and world championship titles in any one swimming event by winning the 1988 and 1992 Olympic gold medals and the 1991 and 1994 world championships in the 800-meter freestyle race among many other notable achievements. Today Evans lives in California with her spouse and two children.
