Welcoming Week Eat and Educate
Join us for an Eat and Educate to celebrate the variety of cultures that help to make up the fabric of our south side community. The first hour from 5:30 pM – 6:30 PM will dive into the Chin culture. The Chins are a minority ethnic population from North-Western Burma (Myanmar). The Chin community in Indianapolis has been growing in number since 2000 due to fleeing from the military dictatorship of their mother country, Burma. Having been relocated to a new place and environment, they have been voluntarily helping each other to meet their basic social and human needs.
The second hour from 6:30 – 7:30 PM will cover the Hispanic culture. Throughout the history of the United States, people have come from various parts of the globe and have contributed to build this nation where we live today. Learning about the Hispanic heritage gives us an opportunity understand and enjoy the richness and diversity of the various Latin American cultures.
