Tangelo, Preventia Group and YMCA of Greater Indianapolis / Avondale Meadows YMCA
Team Up to Fight Hunger in Indianapolis and Across Indiana

Tangleo, a platform that provides access to nutrition education, healthy food  and affordability to people struggling with food and nutrition insecurity,  has teamed up with Preventia Group, an app-based telehealth network and the Avondale Meadows YMCA to feed 1,100 families in the Indianapolis area.

With over 800,000 individuals struggling with food insecurity and food access in Indiana, and $2.9 billion in annual costs linked to diet related illness, the partners selected Indiana as its first stop on a campaign to feed food and nutrient insecure families across America.

On Monday, October 26, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, 1,100 boxes of healthy food will be distributed to those in need.  Using Tangelo’s app-based technology platform.  To get started recipients will text “FeedYMCA” to 334-508-4244 and be prompted to download the Tangelo App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, to pre-register for the event and their box of food.  Recipients will also be able to utilize educational content, shop for and be offered opportunities to earn healthy food in the future.

The food box and Tangelo app are 100% free to recipients and are made possible by the generosity of Tangelo, Preventia Group, and a variety of food suppliers across the Midwest.

About Tangelo: Tangelo is a technology company specialized in delivering public and private funds to food and nutrition insecure consumers to spend on healthy food and other essentials in scalable, trackable ways.  The first food-as-medicine platform for health plans, employers, providers, and non-profits to run and scale food assistance programs such as, food RX, food incentives and medically tailored meal programs.  To learn more please visit www.jointangelo.com.

From 2020:

YMCA Good Friday Breakfast Attendee,

We are in unprecedented times. In light of the threat posed by COVID-19 (coronavirus), the YMCA is taking some extraordinary measures to ensure the health and safety of our members, our program participants, our YMCA staff and our community.

Therefore, following guidance from health officials and state and local community leaders, we have decided to cancel the YMCA Good Friday Breakfast.

We are disappointed, but remain extremely thankful for your continued support of the YMCA Mission and this annual event. We appreciate your understanding, and ask that you pray for the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis as we navigate through this challenging season.

P.S.  We are already planning and praying for next year’s event!

Actively living out the “C” in the YMCA,

– Josh
