At the YMCA we have the perfect fit for your child’s interests. Participants in our programs build new skills, learn about teamwork, focus on sportsmanship, and make new friends. Children will learn firsthand the fundamentals of the sport while having fun.

Youth Sports We Offer

Youth have fun and learn new skills while playing baseball – America’s favorite pastime! The Y offers leagues based on ages and skill levels. Participants will gain confidence and learn about good sportsmanship and teamwork.

YMCA Basketball leagues are fun for all ages and skill levels. Basketball can provide the opportunity for friendly competition, while incorporating skill building and good sportsmanship.

Grab your shoes and run! This Track & Field league is designed to introduce children to the lifelong sport of running. This program is designed to teach the basics of correct running techniques in a team environment. This is a co-ed team and instructional league for kids and teens ages 6-15 years old. Build confidence in your skills of running, jumping, and throwing. No requirements other than good running shoes, athletic shorts and energy! Plus, we have a city-wide track meet twice a year.

It’s the fun of football without the pads. Learn the fundamentals, basic footwork, fair play, and good sportsmanship without the risk of heavy contact.

Compete in what many call the “Greatest Game of All.” Improve your golf skills and work on all the fundamentals of a game you can play all your life! Start out with basic instruction all while receiving individual attention for beginners.

Beginning players will learn about lacrosse in a fun, coed environment. We will provide sticks for all and play in a non-contact manner. Players will practice the basic skills of passing, catching, dodging and shooting while learning about the rules of the sport in scrimmages. This is a great way to gain experience and build confidence before participating in one of our lacrosse leagues.

This program incorporates self-discipline with martial arts movements while allowing for advancement at the individual student’s pace. Classes are taught at beginner and advanced levels and prepare students for opportunities in competition at local, state, and national matches.

Flag Rugby is a non-contact sport similar to flag football. It’s perfect for kids of all sizes and abilities. The program is open to boys and girls in grades 6th through 8th. Flag Rugby promotes excellent skill development, teamwork, health, and fitness. The emphasis is on learning the game, rules, skills, teamwork and having fun! No experience needed!

Designed to encourage participation and to have fun, kids are taught basic soccer skills such as trapping, dribbling, passing and shooting as well as goalie skills.

Youth Softball is an exciting sport combining team play and individual skills. YMCA youth softball promises no try outs, no getting cut and no bench warmers! Every child plays at least half of every game while making friends and learning new techniques.

The program gives kids good, basic information, and the skills they will need to enjoy the sport for a lifetime! Your child will learn how to throw, catch, field and hit correctly, and the positions of the game. With YMCA T-Ball, children ages 3-12 will be introduced to the game and learn how to hit the ball from a tee.

Get involved with the YMCA for youth tennis classes! The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is able to provide community tennis classes to learn about different strokes and basic skills to be able to master this game.

The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis offers Competitive and Recreational Youth Volleyball Leagues at many of our centers. New at Volleyball? Don’t worry! We will teach the game to first-time players as well as sharpen skills for returning players.

Clinics will also be available for middle school-aged boys and girls (5th through 8th grade). Everyone will practice drills to work on proper setting, serving, defense and offensive skills.
