Before and After School program makes it possible for working grandmother to keep job

Grandmother of four finds comfort in Y childcare

Four years ago Nancy McDonald took on the responsibility of raising her 4 grandchildren. One of her biggest concerns at the time was how to work out their school schedule with her work schedule.

Someone told her about the Before and After School program through the YMCA. “BAS was a lifesaver for me.  I would not have been able to keep my job had it not been for this program.”  She gives great praise to staff who were kind and understanding as they worked through her particular financial needs, allowing her to afford the additional expense.

She also takes advantage of our summer day camp which provides a safe place for all four grandkids, now ages 8, 10, 12, and 13, and fully engages them throughout the summer break.
