Embracing Spring: Nurturing Spirit, Mind and Body
Ah, March! It’s here... finally! Why am I so excited? Living in Indiana, I’d understand if you thought it was about college basketball or because pothole repair season is in full swing. While both rank high on my list, the reason is much simpler. When March rolls around, and the crisp Indiana air begins to warm, I’m reminded that spring is right around the corner.
Spring symbolizes a time of rebirth and rejuvenation. We watch as the earth awakens from its winter slumber with new life. We respond as the days lengthen by adjusting our clocks and “springing ahead.” Which is really just an early April Fool's joke if you ask me. The clock says 10, but it feels like 9. Heads up, be ready on Sunday, March 10, or the joke’s on you. The season has even inspired its own standard of cleaning. Spring cleaning is more a ritual than a task.
However, spring is not just a time of warming temperatures, longer days and obliterating cobwebs and dust bunnies; it is also a time of fresh beginnings, a season of renewal as we journey toward personal transformation and wellness.
Proper health and wellness encompasses spirit, mind and body, nurturing each aspect of our being. What better partner than your YMCA? It’s literally the mission: "To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all."
The Y is here to support and inspire you during your growth season. Take inspiration from nature's beauty and see the Y as a place to cultivate wellness and vitality in every aspect of our being.
"Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up."
Did you know your OrthoIndy Foundation Y has a church partner that meets every Sunday? One Fellowship Church transforms the gymnasium and gathers for a weekly worship service. Their mission is to love God, love people and share Jesus. If that sounds interesting, come visit. Tell the welcome desk that Reggie invited you. They’ll know where to find me. We meet Sundays at 10 a.m. Of course, on Sunday, March 10, it’ll feel like 9, but we have plenty of coffee.
