I started my group training about a year ago with the intention of gaining some muscle and getting better knowledge of my body, the gym and how to use it. If I lost a few pounds along the way, that was okay too. But as someone who was never really great at sports and could never do a real push-up and pull-up—ha, forget about that one—I just really wanted to tone-up my body and look good for myself and my wedding.
I’ve learned so much along the way. I haven’t really lost any weight, but my body has changed.
My muffin top is gone, I have weights on the bench press now (yay!), and there’s definition in places where it’s never been before. I also learned to like and appreciate the gym. Some days are tougher than others. It really helps to have someone there to hold you accountable, push and encourage you. Not only has it helped me gain muscle, but more importantly, it’s helped me gain confidence in myself and what I am capable of. In the end, I’ve gained so much more than muscle.
