Preschool is enrolling for our 2018/2019 school year, which will run from August 6, 2018- May 23, 2019. Programs are designed to offer developmentally-appropriate learning experiences for ages 3 to 5. Each day with include group learning, one on one work with the teachers, gym time, and snack/lunch (provided by parents).
The Hendricks Regional Health YMCA Preschool utilizes the Creative Curriculum. The projects that children engage in are developed by knowledgeable, nurturing teachers who consider the needs, interests, concerns, and developmental abilities of the children. The curriculum promotes academic success through the use of a wide range of appealing hands-on learning materials and experiences. In this way we provide children with experiences that will help them learn to direct their own actions, discipline themselves, and accept responsibility for their actions. We expect that children will:
- Experience academic success throughout their school career
- Become eager life-long learners, creative thinkers and problem solvers
- Gain significant verbalization skills and expand their vocabulary
- Expand their language comprehension
- Experience significant advances in their literacy and numeracy skills
- Increase their attention span and ability to concentrate
Programs run from 9am-1pm and is held onsite at the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA. For any additional program details, please contact Alysson Baise at firstname.lastname@example.org or call at 317-204-1910. For registration, please visit the Member Services Desk at the HRH YMCA. Immunization records are required before first day of school.
My name is Austine Grant. I have been with the Hendricks YMCA for 4 years now. I began working in Play- N- Learn, then had the great opportunity to work in preschool, as an assistant. I have now had the pleasure of being the 3’s teacher for the past 2 years. Before moving to Avon, I lived in Lafayette, IN where I ran my own daycare for over 10 years. I live with my three children, (12, 11 and 10) cat, bearded dragon and turtle. My children and I love taking walks, bike rides, family game nights and going to see movies. My favorite hobby is baking and decorating cakes. I enjoy teaching preschool because I love watching children learn and grow. Children at the preschool age are so willing to learn and it is amazing to see all their improvements over the year.
I am a fun-loving person who enjoys friendships and laughter. I love my dogs, working in the yard, being creative with just about anything and playing word games online. I am married and have one grown son. I love working with kids and I have always had a passion for helping them learn. I began when my own son was in Kindergarten 20 years ago. I started as a classroom helper and was soon employed as a Teacher Aid. I stayed in that role for 10 years. Currently, I have been with the YMCA for over 5 years in both Play & Learn and Pre-School. I spent the last school year teaching one of the Pre-K classes. I feel blessed to be contributing to a strong, healthy start for your child. Kids are never boring, I love to have fun, be silly with them and bring something new every day I see them. I just love being around them! I look forward to serving as part of your child’s educational team for the coming year!
Hello and welcome to the YMCA preschool for the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Rachel Pierce and I’m the lead teacher for the preK class. I’m originally from Franklin, IN. I earned my degree in music education from Indiana State University in 2007. I taught band in the North Putnam school corporation and preschool at The Flip Zone before I settled in here at the Y. I’ve been a member of the YMCA since 2014 and this marks my third year of teaching preschool for the Y! I live in Avon with my husband, two daughters, and two cats. My oldest daughter will be a 2nd grader this year and my youngest will be attending preschool here, in the preK room with me! My hobbies include music (teaching AND playing) and being outside as much as possible (hiking and fishing mostly). I love teaching preschool and helping get kids prepared for whatever their future has in store. I’m looking forward to having a super year with you and your family!
