Resources to Help You Navigate This Challenge

We all find ourselves in a very unique situation that could never have been predicted.  The Coronavirus  seemingly came out of nowhere and turned the world upside down.  The kiddos are home from school, businesses have shut down, many of us have been told to work from home, or worse, some can’t work at all.  We are all navigating this pandemic together and with many of the same challenges as our neighbors and the entire world!

The Challenges We Face at the Grocery Store

Yep, you already know don’t you?  Toilet paper of all things!  But that’s not all, right?  The shelves are bare; no bread, ice cream, meat, and even canned green beans  are missing in action!  Malls are closed, movie theaters are closed, the YMCA’s are (say it with me) CLOSED!

We are working very diligently to create a number of videos that are being shared through social media.  These consist of group ex videos along with family activities such as cooking, and game night.  They can be located on our YMCA of Greater Indianapolis Facebook page and the schedule of upcoming videos can be found on our website.  But we understand that desperate times call for desperate measures.

We want to provide a few resources for you to use to keep the family busy but we know other challenges may be adding additional stress to your family as well.  Let’s start with some ideas to create FUN and avoid boredom and then we will get to the fundamental resources.

Here is a compiled list of additional Johnson County Social Service agencies that are wonderful resources for the community.  Contact them directly with any needs that you and your family may have.

We know that this is a real struggle on a number of levels.  The YMCA is committed to serving the community to the best of our ability.  The facility is closed for now but staff are available to answer the phones Monday-Friday from 9 AM -5 PM.  Please call us at 317-881-9347 so we can point you in the right direction.

We look forward to seeing you very soon!
