Adult cancer patients gain confidence, camaraderie and strength in 12-week program


Offered in Indianapolis since 2008, the program meets twice a week for 90 minutes and uses basic physical activity to ease cancer patients back into exercise and helps them maintain a healthy weight in a safe, supportive environment. Working in a small group, survivors increase muscle mass, strength, flexibility and endurance, while also improving their confidence and self-esteem.

One of 5 Prevention Programs

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is one of five Chronic Disease Prevention Programs offered by the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis year-round. The other programs help people tackle diabetes, arthritis, fall prevention and blood-pressure monitoring. The Diabetes Prevention Program begins at 9 YMCA locations in June as well.
