Support LIVESTRONG at the YMCA in Memory of Kristin Edwards

In 2021, the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA and Duke Energy lost a leader, board member, co-worker and friend. Kristin Edwards left her mark wherever she went. Kristin succumbed to cancer, but her impact carries on.

In honor of Kristin’s legacy and desire to serve her community, the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA is accepting donations to help community members take part in the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a program specifically designed for cancer survivors to improve their strength and gain a sense of community and support.

Kristin graduated from the Colorado School of Mines where she received a Bachelors of Arts in Petroleum Engineering. She then received her Masters of Business Administration from Indiana State University. Not a native Hoosier, Kristin made Hendricks County her home with her husband and two sons. She immersed herself in community opportunities including graduating from Leadership Hendricks County, volunteering at the Lineman’s Rodeo and participating with the whole family at Polar Plunge to support the Special Olympics.

In addition to this work, Kristin was a founder of Duke Energy Indiana’s Business Women’s Network (BWN). This employee resource group is focused on supporting the leadership development opportunities of Duke Energy’s female workforce. Through this work, Kristin was able to develop her passion for mentoring and supporting emerging leaders within the company.

Leading by Example on the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA Center Advisory Board

In service to her community, Kristin also served on the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA Center Advisory Board from 2019 to 2021. Her determination and compassion for others helped raise funds for the Hendricks Regional Health YMCA Annual Campaign which, in turn, assisted thousands of individuals, families, children and cancer survivors.

“Kristin Edwards was an involved Hendricks Regional Health YMCA Center Advisory Board Member,” says Mary Beth Carmichael, YMCA of Greater Indianapolis West District Vice President. “Her love for making a difference in our community was demonstrated through her leadership in fundraising and not being afraid to get involved. She was a role model in her work, volunteer work and as a mother.”
