Balance, arthritis and LIVESTRONG programs will be delivered right at the Little Red DoorPublished: Wednesday, May 30, 2018The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is proud to announce an expanded partnership with the Little Red Door Cancer Agency. Beginning June 7, as part of the agency’s grand re-opening, the Y will provide three of its evidence-based, chronic disease programs onsite to Little Red Door clients: Moving for Better Balance, Enhance®Fitness and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. Available to Public Too All three Y programs are available at YMCAs across Central Indiana and open to the public as well. A falls prevention class, Moving for Better Balance, helps improve balance, muscle strength and flexibility in order to reduce the risk of a fall. Enhance®Fitness improves flexibility, reduces stress and decreases joint stiffness. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA provides a safe, supportive environment for adults affected by cancer to do physical and social activities. Reducing the Burden of Chronic Disease The idea is that these programs can help clients ease back into exercise, enhance their quality of life and raise their confidence and self-esteem following their cancer diagnosis. We’re eager to see the Little Red Door’ beautifully renovated space and work alongside them in our efforts to improve lives and reduce the burden of chronic disease in our communities.
