A heartfelt letter from a thankful parent about our youth programs
My family has been connected with the YMCA for nearly 10 years. My daughter Kennedi participated in several teen programs, like From Day One, Turning Points, Y Achievers, and the Senior Summer Institute, since the 6th grade, and is currently a sophomore at DePauw University. She has also attended a plethora of college tours and field trips. One of my fond memories of our experience was in July 2017 when she was granted a $2,000 Eli Lilly College Scholarship through the Y Achievers College and Career Readiness program.
Another Youth Program Participant
Equally, my son Kaleb, who is a freshman at University High School, has participated since August 2013. Every summer he looks forward to attending summer camp. He has participated in From Day One and Turning Points, and enjoyed the programs so much that he invited nearly 10 family members and friends to participate with him. If the summer programs continue, I plan to keep him enrolled throughout high school. Prayerfully, he will receive a scholarship for college as well.
The Avondale Meadows YMCA program has been more than a blessing to my family. I consider the staff as an extension to my village. My children have traveled for an extended amount of days with the staff and have always be returned to me without cause or concern. The staff has always treated my children as they were their own. The level of professionalism, love, encouragement, and support that has been shown and given is unmatched.
Thank you,
Ms. Neiko S. Hendricks-Gilbert
