Whether it is choosing to exercise a few times per week, giving up fast food meals, or educating yourself on nutrition and/or fitness, the YMCA encourages individuals to choose a healthy lifestyle. Whether you’re a new exerciser, comfortable with your fitness but looking for something more, or a seasoned competitor, our YMCA Personal Training Program will get you results.

The Personal Training Starter Package is the entry point to the YMCA’s Personal Training Program. You will be contacted by a Certified Personal Trainer within the next two business days to discuss and schedule your first one-on-one session. In this session you will:

    • Meet with a Certified Personal Trainer
    • Complete a series of baseline assessments
    • Discuss your health and wellness goals
    • Determine the right customized personal training program plan for you!

Semi-Private Personal Training


Semi-Private Training classes cost less than Personal Training, and can yield many of the same benefits

Groups consist of 2-4 people that meet on specific days/times with a certified Personal Trainer. Please ask a Wellness Staff Member for more information.

Enjoy up to four free sessions with a certified YMCA Wellness Advisor

Your Wellness Advisor will help you create a customized plan to help identify and set goals, that fits your lifestyle and current fitness level, which can also include reviewing all wellness center equipment.

Emergencies can happen anytime. Are you prepared? Our training courses provide you with the critical skills that you need for any emergency. At the Y, we support and encourage safe and effective programming by making available a wide variety of YMCA and national certifications and training opportunities for professionals working to help people live healthier lives.

Heartsaver® CPR AED


Heartsaver® CPR AED

Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements. This course can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.  Upon successful completion of the course, including a CPR and AED skills test, students receive a Heartsaver CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years.

Heartsaver® First Aid

Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements.  First aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, and environmental emergencies are included in the course.  Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid skills test, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid course completion card, valid for two years.

Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR for medical professionals and lifeguards)


Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support
(CPR for medical Professionals and lifeguards)

The AHA’s BLS Provider Course reflects science and education from the 2015 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

This class is intended for medical professionals and lifeguards.   

(If you are not a medical professional or lifeguard, please refer instead to our Heartsaver CPR AED and Heartsaver First Aid classes.)

Lifeguard Training


The YMCA offers certified Lifeguard Training for ages 16 and up.

The YMCA Lifeguard Training course is the most comprehensive program available, including certifications in CPR/AED, Basic Life Support, First Aid and Oxygen Administration.Training in equipment-based rescues for aquatic environments, accident prevention and decision-making skills prepare participants for employment.

Participants must be 16 years old before the start of class. Attendance, full participation, and successful completion of written tests and performance of all water skills are required.

Participants must be able to:

  • Tread water for at least 2 minutes
  • Swim 100 yards of front crawl
  • Swim 50 yards each of front crawl with head up, sidestroke, breaststroke, breaststroke with head up, inverted breaststroke kick with hands on stomach
  • Perform a feet-first surface dive in 8 to 10 feet of water and then swim underwater for 15 feet
  • Perform a series of tasks given by the instructor to demonstrate listening and scanning ability as well as stamina and endurance
