INDY YMCA

Aquatics / Swim Lessons

Swimming is a life skill. The YMCA has been teaching children and adults of Central Indiana how to swim for over 150 years, helping them to be safe around water and prevent accidents.

Water fitness and swimming provide health benefits across the lifespan, from young to those young-at-heart.

YMCA aquatic programming is designed to build self-esteem through accomplishments, develop an awareness of safety through the practice of skills, and instill the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Our programs are designed to achieve maximum results. All programs are progressive, building upon basic skills and moving toward mastery of techniques. Participants develop an aquatic foundation that will enable them to enjoy water activities throughout their lives. Ongoing programing allows for participants to improve and grow at their own pace, and builds on a commitment to build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

  • Learn how to be safe around water
  • Build confidence
  • Gain skills
  • Develop a lifelong love of water

Participants safely enjoy aquatic classes at all levels, from beginner to expert. Our parent and child swim lessons help toddlers get comfortable in the water; while all preschool and youth swim lessons develop progressive skills, building upon a child’s confidence in and out of the pool. All Y swim lessons can be group or private, including instruction for teen and adults. As a result, we make it easy for everyone to learn this important life skill. Find the right swim program for you or your family, we offer Swim Lessons, Swim Teams, Swim Clinics, Water Fitness, Certifications and Training and much more.
