Participants must be 16 years old before the start of class. Attendance, full participation, and successful completion of written tests and performance of all water skills are required.

The YMCA Lifeguard Training course is the most comprehensive program available, including certifications in CPR/AED, Basic Life Support, First Aid and Oxygen Administration.Training in equipment-based rescues for aquatic environments, accident prevention and decision-making skills prepare participants for employment.
Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements. This course can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Upon successful completion of the course, including a CPR and AED skills test, students receive a Heartsaver CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years.
Heartsaver® First Aid
Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements. First aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, and environmental emergencies are included in the course. Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid skills test, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid course completion card, valid for two years.
Safe Sitter® classes cover accident prevention, emergency response, child development, behavior management and the business of babysitting. Safe Sitter manual and kit are included. Sign up required. Course content is medically accurate and follows guidelines from the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
If you have a troop or a Girl Scout who needs to earn their babysitting badge, we have partnered with the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana to offer Girl Scout only classes. We offer the same course content as the Safe Sitter® course.
