Project Connect: Adult Education Programs

Certified Nursing Aide (CNA)

Prepare for a rewarding career as a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA). CNAs assist with basic care in hospitals and long-term care facilities. They’re often the main caregivers, helping with daily activities.

Tuition

Eligible participants do not incur any expenses for program tuition, provided they meet certain qualifications. We’re grateful to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development and EmployIndy for their generous funding. Valued at $1,100, the free tuition includes instructional fees and state examination fees.

CNA Training Requirements

  • You must complete 105+ training hours, including 75+ hours of clinical training and 30+ hours of classroom education.
  • You must pass the written and skills test on the state competency evaluation.
  • You must maintain a good standing (no instances of abuse or neglect) on the Indiana Nurse Aide Registry.
  • You must pass the exam within two years of your program if you’re not currently working in the field.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

Looking to grow your skills in allied health beyond the immediate care role of a CNA or QMA? Then look no further than the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) course. CCMAs are credentialed healthcare professionals serving in clinics, private practices, urgent care centers, hospitals, and more. The goal of this course is to provide a comprehensive education focused on procedures for assisting the physician and nurse with patient/client care.

Tuition

CCMA Training Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • You must hold a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must pass background screening (for state licensing)
  • You must complete a physical examination & 2-step TB screening prior to class start.
  • You must complete have open availability for classroom and clinical training.

​Program Length: 14 weeks

Community Health Worker (CHW)

A Community Health Worker (CHW) is a frontline public health worker who is a trusted member of the community and/or has an unusually close understanding of the community served. This trusting relationship enables the CHW to serve as a link between health and social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery. A CHW also builds individual and community capacity by increasing health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support and advocacy.

CHW Training  Requirements

Participant must be 18 years of age and have an High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma working as a Community Health Worker (CHW) without certification.

Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

Ready for a challenging and rewarding career in healthcare that does not involve interacting with patients? Then medical coding and billing could be for you!

Certified professional coders (CPCs) translate patient medical records into standardized medical codes. CPCs must possess technical knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology, a keen attention to detail, and great analytical skills. Students participating in this course will be on a steep learning curve for this in-demand job that has an average salary of $45,000/ yr.

CPC Training  Requirements

Course Orientation is February 3, 4, 5, and 6 , 2025, from 6 – 8:30pm at the YMCA Association Office, 6610 N. Shadeland Avenue.

The class is hybrid and starts the following week on February 10, 2025, meeting once a week in-person on Mondays from 6–8pm, and twice a week online.

High School Equivalency Program (HSE)

On average, workers with a high school diploma earn over $8,000 more per year than those without a diploma. And a high school education is an important first step before entering a two- or four-year college program. Start your next chapter now by earning your High School Equivalency (HSE) credential.

Our HSE prep program prepares adult learners for the GED® examination to obtain an Indiana High School Equivalency Diploma. The course covers all subject areas of the test: math, reading, writing, science and social studies.

Classes are offered virtually or in person.

Your Project Connect instructor will assess your skills and help you study. You’ll also get access to virtual instruction, academic monitoring, childcare and financial aid for testing fees.

HSE Eligibility Requirements

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • You must be an Indiana resident for at least 30 days before taking the test.
  • You must not already have a diploma from an accredited U.S. high school.

Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential™

The Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential™ is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE), and it is a key stepping stone on the path of career advancement in ECE. The CDA® is based on a core set of competency standards that guide early childhood professionals toward becoming qualified educators of young children.

The Council works to ensure that the nationally transferable CDA is a credible and valid credential, recognized by the profession as a vital part of professional development.

Indiana Non Formal CDA® Project Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a resident of Indiana who is at least 18 years old.
  • Be employed in a childcare center, childcare home, or childcare ministry that is licensed, registered, or certified as a LLEP CCDF provider by OECOSL.
  • Hold a High School Diploma OR High School Equivalency Diploma (HSE).
