As we step into Fall, many of us feel the shift in seasons—the pace of back-to-school, busier schedules and shorter days. Yet Fall is also a time of renewal—a chance to pause, refocus and remind ourselves of the incredible work we are accomplishing at the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis.
Over the past three years, our Strategic Plan has guided us to think bigger about how we can improve health, strengthen families and build equity across Central Indiana. One of the clearest examples of this is how our financial development efforts have expanded access for thousands of children, adults and families who otherwise could not afford the life-changing programs the Y provides.
When I see a child laughing in our afterschool program because financial assistance made it possible for them to be there, or a family finding connection inside our centers because donors believed in our mission, I am reminded that this work isn’t just about programs—it’s about transformation.
These stories are proof that our strategic priorities and the generosity of our community are working hand in hand to create lasting impact.
Fall also reminds us to set new rhythms. Just as students head back into the classroom, we too can lean into this season as a fresh start. For us as leaders, that means continuing to strengthen the foundation we’ve built through the Strategic Plan, stewarding resources wisely, and working collaboratively to expand our reach. Every dollar raised, every new partner engaged and every story shared brings us closer to a healthier, more equitable and more connected community.
And we don’t do this alone. One of the greatest strengths of our Y is the team we’ve built—the staff, volunteers, donors and community partners who encourage, support and inspire us every day. Together, we are not only keeping motivation alive; we are sustaining a movement that changes lives.
As the leaves begin to turn, I want to thank you for the heart and commitment you bring to this mission. With renewed focus and the continued momentum of our three-year plan, I am confident that the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis will keep transforming lives across Central Indiana—for this season and every season to come.
