Free Food Distribution at Avondale Meadows YMCA
Tangelo, Preventia Group and YMCA of Greater Indianapolis / Avondale Meadows YMCA
Team Up to Fight Hunger in Indianapolis and Across Indiana
Tangleo, a platform that provides access to nutrition education, healthy food and affordability to people struggling with food and nutrition insecurity, has teamed up with Preventia Group, an app-based telehealth network and the Avondale Meadows YMCA to feed 1,100 families in the Indianapolis area.
With over 800,000 individuals struggling with food insecurity and food access in Indiana, and $2.9 billion in annual costs linked to diet related illness, the partners selected Indiana as its first stop on a campaign to feed food and nutrient insecure families across America.
On Monday, October 26, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, 1,100 boxes of healthy food will be distributed to those in need. Using Tangelo’s app-based technology platform. To get started recipients will text “FeedYMCA” to 334-508-4244 and be prompted to download the Tangelo App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, to pre-register for the event and their box of food. Recipients will also be able to utilize educational content, shop for and be offered opportunities to earn healthy food in the future.
The food box and Tangelo app are 100% free to recipients and are made possible by the generosity of Tangelo, Preventia Group, and a variety of food suppliers across the Midwest.
