NEWS + STORIES

On August 3, 2021 The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis was awarded a coveted four star rating from Charity Navigator for sound fiscal management and a proven commitment to accountability and transparency.

The gold standard for charity evaluation

As recent hard economic times have forever shaped the nonprofit sector, there is an unprecedented demand from savvy donors for greater accountability, transparency, and quantifiable results from the charities they choose to support. In this competitive philanthropic marketplace, Charity Navigator highlights the fine work of efficient, ethical, and open charities.

As America’s premier charity evaluator, Charity Navigator is the gold standard in providing donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make.

4-star rating is no easy feat

“We are proud to be selected from a list of more than 1.5 million American charities evaluated by Charity Navigator,” said Jim Wood, Senior Vice President and CDO of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. “And to receive this 4-Star Rating for 11 consecutive years is an incredible honor,” he continued.

This is the highest possible rating given by Charity Navigator and indicates that the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Only 2% of the charities evaluated by Charity Navigator have received at least 11 consecutive 4-star evaluations.
