Fruits or Fruit

Have you ever considered the vast variety of fruit available on a regular basis today?

When I was a child, bananas, apples, oranges and grapes were the norm. Strawberries, pears and pineapples were a special treat. I had never seen or heard of a passion fruit or dragon fruit.

Today, because of advanced refrigeration and next day delivery, a vast variety of fruit is available on a daily basis. Each of them has unique characteristics and flavors. The plum is different from the peach and the mango is different than the cherry.

One of my favorites is kiwi. It is a strange looking little fruit, but what a wonderful taste. I can eat them alone, but really enjoy them mixed with other fruits. I love fruit salads. Combining several varieties of fruit together exposes my taste buds to an explosion of unique flavors.

The Bible in Galatians 5:22 and 23 talks about the fruit of the spirit. It is talking about several characteristics (fruits) in combination together making up one individual (fruit). This combination includes love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Each of these characteristics on their own are great to have, but having all of them together is very powerful.

What do you think would happen if we decided to adopt the fruit of the spirit in our daily lives? I believe this would allow us to have a positive impact on our family, friends, co-workers and those we come in contact with. Consider adopting the fruit of the spirit in your personal life daily. I can promise that your life, and the lives of those you come in contact with, will be richer.
