Still Thinking About Easter

Inspiration to Serve Others

He is risen… He is risen indeed!

Christians worldwide celebrate the anniversary of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. What does it mean?

Death is defeated.

Death, the enemy of mankind, entered the world as the just "wages" for sin (Romans 6:23). Christ’s resurrection demonstrates victory over death. No longer do we need to fear death because Jesus triumphed over it (Acts 2:24). As the apostle Paul declared, “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55-57).

Believers are justified.

Through Jesus’ resurrection, believers are justified before God. Jesus was delivered over to death for our sins and raised to life for our justification (Romans 4:25). Justification means being put right with God. In our sin, humankind is separated from God. But in Christ’s death on the cross, God placed our punishment on Him, allowing us to be justified before Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). The resurrection confirms God’s acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice, reconciling to us to the heavenly Father.

Believers are united with Christ:

When we believe in Christ, we are united with Him in faith (2 Corinthians 4:14). This union means that God sees us not in our unrighteousness but in the righteousness of Christ. We have died with Him and will also live with Him (Romans 6:8).

Old Testament prophesies are fulfilled.

Old Testament scriptures prophesized about Jesus’ resurrection (e.g., Job, Isaiah 53, Psalm 16). His resurrection validates the truth of scripture.

Believers mourn losses, but not as those without hope.

Christ’s resurrection as the first fruits assures that all believers will experience resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20). We will be raised like Him.

To all who celebrate, may the joy of Easter linger long with much faith, love and hope!
