The  OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA in Pike Township, which opened in December 2018,  is a prominent community beacon in the most diverse township in Indianapolis.  OrthoIndy Foundation’s decision to support this YMCA was driven by the inclusion of veteran-focused space and programming. In addition to being a full-service YMCA facility open to the public, the OrthoIndyFoundation YMCA  includes programs, facilities and services tailored to U.S. military service members, veterans and their families.

To permanently honor veterans at the site, the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Arts Council conducted a national search for an artist to design a striking structural element for the new center. Sculptor Clay Enoch of the National Sculptor’s Guild was selected to build his piece, “SALUTE.”

SALUTE is comprised of two 8-foot tall curved walls that feature five service men and women, each wearing a sculpted hat to represent their branch of service: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy.

You can permanently add the name of a veteran to this one-of-a-kind artwork with a gift to the YMCA of $100 or more.  Stainless steel veterans’ plaques are 5” x 2”. Copy is limited to veterans rank, name and branch of service. The statue is designed to be able to grow with additional names at any time.
