You may have seen this smiling face as you walk the halls of the Benjamin Harrison YMCA. Angie has been an employee for six years now. Because of her love of kids, she began her Y career in the Before & After School program. Angie has also worked in Member Services and now in our maintenance department. She chose to move into the maintenance specialist role because she enjoys cleaning and folding towels.
"I also like helping the customers. And I still get to see the kids."
'Pours her heart' into everything
Steven, our building and grounds director, said, "Angie is a very reliable hard worker that always has a positive attitude. The members appreciate when she is helping around the building."
There is more to Angie than just this position at the Y. She loves being busy and staying active and shares her work life with Kohls, the Down Syndrome Foundation and Best Buddies. Outside of work, Angie takes part in the Special Olympics Summer State Games as well as the basketball and softball leagues and track and field. She was even a part of the 2017 State Champion Softball Team.
Angie pours her heart and dedication into everything she does, and it doesn't go unnoticed. If you have driven to Terre Haute lately, you may see her smiling face on the Special Olympics billboard. She has even been seen on local news channels promoting her home, the Village of Merici.
A positive role model
Angie is a star. Whether on a billboard, on the news or at the Y, Angie is a positive role model. We are happy that she is a part of our Y family!
