Brighter and Brighter

Writen by: Reggie McGuire

This winter has been no joke. January and February brought frigid cold, heavy snowfall, icy roads, and long gray days that tested everyone’s patience. Some mornings, just getting out the door felt like a victory.

And for many of us, it wasn’t only the weather that felt heavy; life itself felt heavy. Motivation was harder to find. Energy was lower. Stress felt higher. Staying encouraged required more effort than usual.

But then March enters the scene.

Even if the Indiana winter hasn’t completely released its grip, something begins to shift. The days slowly grow longer. The sun begins to show itself more consistently. Little by little, we’re reminded that cold seasons don’t last forever.

That’s true in nature, and it’s true in life.

Just as the March sun begins to climb higher in the sky, there is a spiritual promise for those who keep walking:

“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” — Proverbs 4:18

This verse is powerful because it reminds us that God often doesn’t move us from darkness to daylight instantly. Many times, He strengthens us gradually. He leads us step by step. He builds our character through consistency. He grows us through perseverance.

Just like the sun doesn’t rise all at once, progress doesn’t happen all at once either.

Sometimes growth looks like:
● Showing up when you’d rather stay home
● Continuing even when you don’t feel like it
● Choosing discipline when motivation fades
● Taking one more step forward when the road is hard

That’s what makes the YMCA such a meaningful place. It’s not just where people come to work out; it’s where people rebuild. It’s where confidence returns. It’s where strength is restored. It’s where people decide they are not giving up on themselves.

And that kind of resilience is not only physical; it’s spiritual.

March is a reminder that seasons change. The snow may have been heavy, but it didn’t cancel your purpose. The cold may have been intense, but it didn’t freeze God’s plan. The winter may have been long, but it did not stop your future.

If you’ve been discouraged, distracted, or delayed, take heart: you are still here. And God is still working. Even when you can’t see it, He is strengthening you from the inside out.

So keep going. Keep praying. Keep moving. Keep believing. Keep building.

Because the path forward is still bright, and with God’s help, it will shine brighter and brighter.

You Don’t Have to Walk the Path Alone

If you are looking for a community to walk this path with you, we invite you to join our church partner, One Fellowship Church, which meets right here inside the OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA every Sunday at 10 a.m.

One Fellowship exists to: Love God, love people, and share Jesus.

Whether you are seeking a fresh start this spring or just looking for a place to belong, we’d love to help you discover the “full light of day” that God has planned for your life.

Come as you are; there’s a seat for you.
